Perfume Parlour White Suede Clone Review
I originally started looking at clone fragrances mainly for the smaller travel sprays. The idea was to have something affordable to top up throughout the day when my favourite originals start to fade.
Perfume Parlour came highly recommended, so I decided to give them a try.
For their White Suede clone, I went straight for the 60ml Extrait because I absolutely love the original fragrance.
On the initial spray, the resemblance is immediately noticeable. It captures the character of the original quite well, although there's a slightly sharper, more bitter edge that stands out. As someone still developing my nose, that was the first significant difference I noticed.
As it dries down, the fragrance loses a little of the richness and complexity that makes the original so appealing. There is still some depth here, but it's not quite as nuanced. I also pick up a faint note that I'm not entirely sold on. It's subtle rather than distracting, but it lingers in the background.
Performance is solid. In my testing, it actually projects a little stronger than the original, although neither fragrance is particularly known for exceptional longevity.
The sharper bitterness softens over time, but underneath there's a note that some people might describe as slightly acrid. It's difficult to pin down. It feels clean, but with a faintly rough edge that stops it from feeling completely polished.
Verdict
This is a very respectable substitute for the original White Suede. While it doesn't fully capture the refinement, richness, or smoothness of the Tom Ford version, it gets surprisingly close for a fraction of the price. Most importantly, it's left me confident enough to explore more of Perfume Parlour's range. As a first purchase, I'd call it a success.
