I love this warm, sweet and spicy scent so much that I use it in a reed diffuser as well as wearing the perfume.

Perfect, long lasting

The fragrance is very nice and very close to replica . The only difference is rhis version is less sweet and more woodsy firey.

Have a bottle of the original that's running low so thought I'd give this a try and once again PP have come through with an excellent scent, extremely close to the original and amazing value for money...5/5!

Incredible perfume! This is even better than the OG, if you can imagine it with added projection and longevity! I am impressed!

I've found that when this is shaken or disturbed it can end up very smoky, too much so for my tastes.
Let it rest for a few weeks and it changes to more of that sweet gourmand, chocolatey-nutty tone. Very nice! Never tried the original so cannot speak to it's accuracy.

Tested it in house and it smelled like you've been burning logs on the stove and handled them. Has this very very smoky charcoal smell. I wouldn't say it's bad but you are for sure getting that smokey fireplace with no extras. I couldn't smell the orange blossom, maybe cause it's overpowered by the woody smoky smell. Overall get this if you want to smell like you've been helping your grandparents in the countryside warm up their home with old logs. :)

I haven't smelled the original. So I don't know how close it is to the original. But I spent a decade living in a Northern country. My walks home in the autumn and winter evenings were filled with the sweet, nutty, slightly vanilla. slightly honeyed scent of roast chestnuts being sold at every corner, and the smokey, woody scent of the chestnut sellers' fires. The smell of cloves, soft cinnamon, mixed spice and sugar was coming from every bakery and every kitchen. On Sunday morning the churches were filled with the sweet spicy, resinous, woody, smokey notes of incense that contained cloves, cinnamon, pepper, frankincence and myrrh. PP have created all those scents and blended them together to create Wood Fire. But why would anyone want to smell like roast chestnuts, wood smoke and incense? Actually, the perfume is so skilfully blended that it is a strong but comforting, relaxing scent to wear. On a cold, windy, dreary winter's morning in London I put just a little on my scarf. A little goes a long way. I find that this delicious scent helps me face the cold. I sometimes get compliments from other passengers on the Tube. It's not an office scent. So when I get to the office I put my scarf away and spritz a little of one of PP's many wonderful office appropriate scents. I hope that PP will someday create a category of several pages of office appropriate scents for women and men. That doesn't mean boring or bland. My favourite, PP's scent similar to Dior's La Colle Noire is out of stock at the moment. But I hope they will bring it back soon.

Identical to the original, long lasting, just..perfect!

I’m reviewing this straight out of the box so no time to macerate.. tbh smells a bit like TCP on the opening for the first few minutes, but after that the dry down is lovely.. a warm cosy scent that’s so comforting. I’ve not tried the original but this is really well done… log burner, dim lights and wood fire 1874…. Perfect!

It's unique, I love this fragrance By the Fireplace Maison Martin Margiela! It's a wintery scent, warm, cozy, reminds me of the fireplace at Christmas. Very good longevity on skin, on clothes it is felt the next day.

My absolute fav fragrance and never before did i get so many compliments and questions about this scent! I'm working in service sector and even there strange women and men ask me which fragrance I'm wearing, even though I think it doesn't smell like the "original" perfume of MM

Option Review:50ml Spray
I bought this dupe as I was hoping for a stronger more projecting version of 'by the fireplace'. I sprayed one hand each with btfp and wood fire . First initial smell from both was a bit chemically then the scents came through. Almost immediately I could smell the lovely throaty woody spice from the original but the dupe was just sweet. As it dried down the scent became a little more similar, but only a little. I asked my daughter to smell both hands, she could smell btfp but not the dupe. Its projection is even weaker than the original sadly, maybe it will perform better sprayed on clothes rather than skin. Wood fire is in itself a nice perfume but lacks the beautiful smokiness that appeals to me. I purchased a cheap body spray from Avon (fireside glow) which has captured btfp very well, no longevity though but more projection. I will keep on the hunt for that wonderful smokiness with a good projection and longevity.

This was my most sceptical purchase as I’d looked up reviews of it reminding people of bonfires! But honestly don’t believe everything you read with those negative reviews, this fragrance is so beautiful! It’s not as intense as you think it would be it smells like a cottage in the woods with gingerbread freshly baking and the log fire is slowing burning. Takes me back to my childhood, imagining the smells of the gingerbread house in Hansel & Gretel. So nostalgic and comforting.

Very good interpretation. The oil adds a bit of creaminess and allows the vanilla to come through next to intense smokiness. Big fan

I actually take back my previous review from 2 years ago where I wasnt keen on this. I recently came across my 13ml spray again and started using it. This is wonderful now it has aged, i have now got 3 50ml bottles in my draw as back up. A beautiful Autumn scent 👌🏻
